Toxicologic Potential

Analysis of the toxic effects of the product upon medaka fish (Oryzias latipes) individuals, through microscopy analysis, after adding the producto to the culture media. This way, we analyze the toxicologic potential of the product, being a previous step to study in mammals.

Enzymatic Activity: Amylase (Carbohydrates)

We analyze the capacity of a determined product to inhibit amylase activity, involved in carbohydrates metabolism, after feeding adult male medaka fish (Oryzias latipes) during 5-7 days with the product and a High Fat Diet (HFD). This way, we analyze the functional effects of the product on glucose metabolism.

Glucose Levels

Analysis of the functional effects on glucose levels, after feeding medaka fish adults with the product and a High Fat Diet (HFD), through quantification of glucose in blood.

Enzymatic Activity: Phospholipase A2 (Fatty Acid)

We analyze the capacity of a determined product to inhibit phospholipase A2 (PLA2) activity, involved in fatty acid synthesis, after feeding adult male medaka fish (Oryzias latipes) during 5-7 days with the product and a High Fat Diet (HFD). This way, we analyze the functional effects of the product on fatty acid metabolism.

Lipolytic Metabolism – Gene Expression

Analysis in liver of the effects upon the expression of genes involved in the degradation of fatty acids (PPARα, ACO1, CPT1…), after feeding medaka fish individuals with the product and a High Fat Diet (HFD), through the analysis of gene expression by RT-qPCR.

Lipogenic Metabolism – Gene Expression

Analysis in liver of the effects upon the expression of genes involved in fatty acid synthesis  (ACC1, FAS, SREBP1…), after feeding medaka fish individuals with the product and a High Fat Diet (HFD), through gene expression analysis by RT-qPCR
