The Valencia Marathon, which is managed by the Trinidad Alfonso de Juan Roig Foundation (president of Mercadona), presents the details of its sports bubble for elite athletes and the security protocol that guarantees the correct celebration of the event.
This year, popular runners will not be able to travel the 42 kilometers that each year elevate the Valencia Marathon to the international podium of major sporting events. But 300 elite athletes will do so on December 6 in a special Elite Edition marked by the restrictions and security measures caused by the global Covid pandemic.

Bionos will develop PCR analysis from nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal samples, to identify the presence of COVID-19 in the athletes who are going to participate, as well as in their close environment (coaches, managers, etc.). José Luis Mullor, scientific director of the Bionos Laboratory, located in the hospital of La Fe de València, explained that «PCR tests will be carried out to comply with the highest safety standards, being the reference test with the highest sensitivity for virus control . The results will be available on the same day as the sampling, 48 hours before the race, to ensure that the test is carried out under “covid-free” conditions.
